Celebrate Excellence: Principal’s Staff Awards—call for nominations

April 14, 2026

The Principal’s Staff Awards are an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the UBC Okanagan staff members and teams who go above and beyond—those whose dedication, creativity and leadership make our campus a better place for everyone.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2026 Principal’s Staff Awards across five categories:

  1. Collaborative Excellence (Team)—Celebrating teams or groups that exemplify collaboration, positivity, and community spirit.
  1. Creativity and Innovation (Individual or Team)—Celebrating individuals or teams who consistently demonstrate impactful creativity and innovation in a recent (i.e., past two years) project, initiative, service, or process.
  1. Emerging Leadership (Individual)—Celebrating individuals who consistently demonstrate leadership through actions, initiative, and voice—not through a formal leadership position*. (*Position where no staff report to them)
  1. Leadership (Individual)—recognizes individuals who consistently demonstrate outstanding leadership that goes beyond a formal role.
  1. Nurture a Strong and Vibrant UBC Community (Individual or Team)—recognizes individuals or teams who have strengthened and enriched the UBC community through: exceptional service; by advancing equity and inclusion; and/or by fostering the wellbeing of students, faculty, staff and alumni.
